I was wondering what would be a better method for analyzing the endophytic diversity of plant varieties: growing in hydroponics or in soil. With the latter approach, there would be interference by rhizospheric and soil microbiota, it would be closer to the actual field conditions. On the other hand, when using hydroponics, since the interference due to soil microbes is absent, we might get a better picture of the inherent/native/true endophytes, specific to a particular variety? Kindly advice.
