Hello everyone,
We are trying to differentiate the heartwood and sapwood in planks of the tree species Pinus sylvestris, but we can't find a UV lamp which provides the right wavelength for seeing the stilbenes. Does anyone know any other simple and effective method for this?

From the macroscopic point of view they have a different color: all pines have the heartwood chromatically distinct from sapwood.
Thanks a lot Dr. Macchioni. we tried so already. Few of them look different, but we can't find differences in most of the planks.
