I need to use a certain volume of 14.4 M "commercial solution" of 2-mercaptoethanol. The problem is that in the lab (I recently joined this lab) they only have a bottle purchased from WAKO, Japan, but the bottle label is quite damaged, and the only information that I can read is the purity, 98.5%.
I found in the information of other suppliers that 2-mercaptoethanol solutions of 98% correspond to a concentration of about 14.3M (pure liquid). May I consider the same concentration for the WAKO chemical?

Thanks Sven. I already checked the WAKO website, but there is no information concerning the concentration, so I think I will finally assume the concentration is about 14.4.

the wako beta-ME is 14.3 M. i have attached the data sheet from Wako (see summary at bottom of data sheet)

So stupid!!…. I've just realized that the concentration of the pure liquid can't be different from 14 M.
As simple as the following calculation: M = [density (1.114 g/ml) x purity (0.985-0.99)]/molecular mass (78.13 gr/mol) = 0.014 mol/ml = 14 mol/L
