I‘m an undergrad student working with ABC and MATE transporters and i was reading this paper http://www.plantcell.org/content/31/11/2789 bc they were using yeast microsomes for transporter assays and i was wondering how that works exactly? at one point they mention „yeast microsomes overexpressing transporter..“ and i didnt even know microsomes were able of transcription and translation. to my knowledge microsomes were just vesicles formed by the ER membrane and random cell compartments that form after a cell is broken up and not somewhat functioning „cells“. i couldn‘t find anything online on what yeast microsomes are exactly or what they‘re capable of so i‘m hoping someone on here knows anything or has worked with them before!
