Lalit, bioinformatics skills are not required. What is needed is to have knowledge of some domain of molecular biology. The effort required will be to identify biomolecular interactions in the literature for selected genes that have established roles in your biological area of interest, but are not already in our database. Having identified those documented interactions, you will enter them into our database using web based forms. The manual effort required would certainly be facilitated with good text mining approaches, but there is no requirement for that. Our approach is to rely on domain experts to make the final call about whether the literature really supports a particular biomolecular interaction.

Gerard, thanks for your interest. Cognoscente currently only supports physicochemical interactions, but we are on a trajectory to add both functional interactions and concept interactions. The challenge for us is not so much about simply implementing that functionality, but how to do it in a way that produces comprehensible pictures. Additionally, we need to settle on good sources to serve as the foundation for that type of entry, as we don't want to start from scratch.
