People suggested more robust house-keeping gene, beta-actin than GAPDH. Alcohol may influence carbohydrate metabolism a lot. Furthermore, in cells affected highly by any treatment, GAPDH is reported to translocate into the nucleus to be involved in cell death process. You would lose nuclear GAPDH in these early-mid stages of cell death during cell lysis.

I agree with Sang. Why don't you try another loading control? GAPDH can affect metabolic process, and so does alcohol administration.
