I am planning a Verhoeff van Gieson stain on arterial sections: do they need to be paraffin-embedded or will the stain still work well on frozen sections? I found this protocol http://www.ihcworld.com/_protocols/special_stains/vvg.htm

and it has a brief line: "...may be used for frozen sections as well. " However, it, and most other protocols I have found, seem to suggest paraffin embedding. Has anyone used this stain with frozen sections? Does it work just as well, or are there issues?
