SiO2 has a finite but small etch rate in alkalis. SiO2 etch rates in KOH are known because SiO2 is used to mask KOH etching of Si. Maybe NaOH is similar. KOH etch rates for Si and SiO2 are here https://cleanroom.byu.edu/KOH
