A dog was brought with a history of dandruff and itching. Tape impression smear was taken from the dorsum region. Upon staining it with Lactophenol Cotton Blue stain, I found Macroconidia. But I have doubts about these.
Is this a Macroconidia? - photo attached
If yes, can you help me identify the Dermatophyte involved? Microsporum canis or Microsporum gypseum? or something else?
Can identification of Macroconidia on a tape impression smear be confirmed as a positive case for dermatophyte infection? or will it be a non-parasitic stage?
When I tried to culture it, fast growing fungi was observed when incubated at 37 degree celcius. I am yet to get results of the plate that is incubated at 25 degree Celsius.
Are there any other advise on how to proceed with this?
