We have a patient derived xenograft model of H&N cancer. The primary tumor was HPV-16 positive. The early passages also showed HPV-16 positivity. However the later passages are not. Surprisingly, the later passages still express a high percentage of human genes. Hence, the cells in the later PDX passages are of human origin, but not HPV positive. Could it be that HPV was lost or could it be some other human cells other than H&N cancer?
