We have attempted to prepare nanorods on FTO plate by electrochemical deposition. In general XRD pattern of ZnO yields 2 theta 31, 34, 37 corresponding to (100), (101) and (002) planes. In our case, we are getting dominant peaks below 2 theta 31, rather than the above said peaks. What is the cause of this? For reference XRD image is uploaded.

observing the spectrum, a find the peaks at 31°, 34° and 37°. But these peaks have low intensity, probably due to the low extension of nanorods. Probably, the high intensive peaks are due to the substrate.

In addition to the above cited reason, the porosity and the thickness of the electro deposited films can also affect the XRD pattern. There also seems to be some impurity phases present.
