I worked with procymidone and its metabolites for residue analysis in fruits and vegetables. But, when I injet the stardard vials of procymidone for the calibration curve there is a giant unexpected peak (may be solvent peak) in front of the real pesticide in that standards vial. So, how can I get rid of it. Standard was dissolved in acetone.

Hi, are you using UV detector? If you are, then what wavelength?
I would suspect (as you have) that this is due to the acetone.
I would prepare the procymidone in a different solvent (acetonitrile or methanol).
Thanks Patrick for your suggession. I use 207 nm uv wavelength. Okay, let me try with other wavelengths as well as different solvents.
based on the retention time of the solvent peak (acetone), you could program the system to ignore or not to include that portion in the chromatogram or spectrum since it is not what you intend to analyse
The eigen peaks may arise from several factors such as an air bubble in the pump, dirty injector needle, solvent or even the mobile phase.
I would shoot a neat vial of the acetone just to erase doubts about solvent impurities or prepare a fresh mobile phase. If the ghost peak still elutes, consider dissolving your standard in acetonitrile
This could be due to the solvent you have used. Try a different solvent in which the sample is soluble. The new solvent you will try should have a solvent cut off value less than 207nm. Acetonitrile is good solvent and it's solvent cut off is 190 nm.
