In ni foam I am getting much higher value of specific capacitance but in glossy carbon electrode the value is vary low. Please explain why the specific capacitance value of a material is not same for different types of woking electrode.
The specific capacitance of a material depends on various factors such as the surface area of the electrode, the type of electrolyte used, and the morphology of the electrode material. In general, materials with higher surface areas tend to have higher specific capacitances. For example, nickel foam has a higher specific surface area than nickel mesh, which leads to excellent electrochemical and pseudocapacitive performance of the Ni foam compared to the Ni mesh (Characterizations of nickel mesh...).
In addition, different types of working electrodes can have different specific capacitance values for the same material due to differences in their morphology and surface area (Nickel-based materials for supercapacitors...). For instance, a composite g-C3N4/NiCo2O4 nanomaterial has a higher mass-specific capacitance compared with NiCo2O4 when used as a supercapacitor electrode due to physical mixing (Why the specific capacitance value of same ...........).
I hope this helps!
