I think that something is wrong somewhere. As someone said, RG team may be test running some software. I even discovered that my scores sometimes go down when I participate the most.

Thanks for sharin, the recommendations doesn’t reduce is what I think, but it may be the participation of people would come down, consequently the participation would reduce with recommendations

As a system if there are no involvement by friends and colleagues than the chances of recommendations will reduce

I noticed that when I answere a question my number of recommendations to answers for the same week decrease. If I do not have recommendations for this week, the number of old recommendations to answers decrease.

In general RG does not functioning well not only total number of recommendations but many other facilities, I think it depends on the program software!!!

I agree with colleagues, so it is up to the RG platform officials to find a solution to that problem.

Recommendation depends on liking of answer/question by another body not self. do not bother it, try to enjoy others answers

I observed this effect as well. There are many possible reasons for that:

1. a researcher removes his recommendation to an answer (at least that is also possible for questions and publications)

2. A researcher deletes his questions - then the answers and recommendations are lost

3. A researcher deletes his profile (this lead indirectly to point 2)

4. Algorithm in RG: maybe the number of recommendations refer to a limited time frame or there are some errors in algorithm.

But, honestly: Is the number of recommendations the ONLY reason for answering questions?!

Actually, RG score is irrelevant to quality of scholarly work and number of citations. so why is it even important?

Counts of recommendations at RG consists of those for publications, project updates, questions, answers, and publication comments. Among these, I have been finding the decrease in answers only. This happens when I got quite a small number of or none of the recommendations for answers in a week. Thus, I suppose that for counting the recommendations for answers they adopt recommendations gotten during a latest definite period. The reason might be that by this method they are trying to urge us to do a constant or increasing activity at the RG site.

I really do not know.

Dear Researchers,

You use RG service absolutely free to PR yourself and your research. Therefore, please be tolerant and lenient to any Ratings and Number of Recommendations from RG. Remember that everything in this world is subjective, as well as the famous saying "Do not look a gift horse in the mouth".

New academic year, so everyone is busy and try to be existed in RG so may ignore to do recommendation. In the summer time is the peak of RG specifically July, August and September this is my observation.

The answer may be in the question itself. How many questions posted in this forum are really relevant to research? IMHO there are frequent questions that completely irrelevant to this forum. As a result answers to such questions become even more irrelevant, and thus ignored by people who typically love to recommend a good answer.

It happen to everyone not only you. I think the way of calculating the number of recommendations has been changed recently. It is not only number of recommendations, but also calculating RG score; the increment on RG score start to be less than before despite of same level of your activities. I think new RG terms and conditions become more complicated than the old ones.

Dear Friends, I got all my recommendations back....my recommendation stat says....just a couple of minutes back "number of recommendation was 680".....within 2 minutes it has become 1280 odd....all my previous week's recommendations were reset....no reduction in number of recommendations to answers....really could not believe....totally surprised...wondering what is happening in RG System.... has somebody from RG team heard / knew this QUESTION and rectified this issue?....in lighter sense....does it happen to anyone else in our RG friends circle?....curious to know....have a great day....
