just a few personal thoughts to share for fun, bored by my lonely writing of PhD thesis LOL
1 every coin has 2 sides.
when things go well, the tendency is bad, which is worrisome, coz it's harder to adapt to a lower status from a higher status than the other way around, generally speaking; when things go bad, you have nothing to lose, this makes people fearless and achieve - or rot, of course, as one wishes.
2 success or failure, depends on the measurement.
- A divorce can be counted as the end of a failed marriage or the beginning of a new happy relationship.
- divorce is a failure if the measurement is "staying together", and a success if the measurement is "internal growth and learning".
3 success or failure are the points in between processes. eventually we spend most of our time in the process, not in the achieving or failing moment.
so what matters most, is the process, the course, I think, rather than the achieving/failing points, esp. for whose with a weak memory of emotions LOL I have a master student who got the highest grade for his master [grand distinction] and the excitement only lasted 5 minutes, sadly LOL
4 success or failure, eventually is translated into feelings and motivations.
success creates confidence in some people and fear in some other; failure creates frustration in some people and motivation for some other. so eventually it's the attitude that matters and not success or failure per se. always take the positive sides of the coin ---> back to point 1 LOL
