The problem is we couldn't even produce oil for our own citizen's needs. To meet the needs we are importing oil from other countries. In such situation we couldn't produce biodiesel from edible oils like other countries. For example, Malaysia is the leading exporter of palm oil in world and they are producing biodiesel using palm oil and leading in biodiesel industry.
The cost of biodiesel at this stage is actually higher than that of petrochemical fuel. It ’s actually not economical if only measured from money. Biodiesel (B99-B100) is higher than Diesel$3.08/gallon .

But from another perspective, it produces less pollution of combustion. It uses carbon in a recyclable way. And also it reduces the probability of waste oil being put on the table.
Furthermore, and the price of B100 may go down in the future.
Probably this problem is connected with the following couses: the higher price of the biodisel in comparison with other types of fuel. For example in the EU the production of biodisel is constatly decreasing because of the price for edible oils is growing and subsidies from the budget for the production of the biodisel are diminishing. It is a complex matter, what would be of importance is to build a system for conversion of waste to biodiesel and this could be competitive to fossil business, but the supporting infrastructure needs high political incentives. One the interest is there the most suitable process technology must be selected to make less harm than benefits
I think it needs some time for the bio diesel to be mass produced.
