Please, what is the reason behind the addition of acid during the preparation of Fe-doped TiO2 using impregnation method? I did not add acid during preparation, but the catalyst changes the pH of the solution to acidic medium. Please, what is the reason for that and should I wash the catalyst before drying and what If I did not wash it, Is it possible to give an activity under neutral pH.

I think that you should investigate the isoelectric point of your synthesized Fe doped TiO2 catalysts. because the acidic scale is between 0-7 but the isoelectric point of your catalyst can be between 0-7. for example, if the IEP of the catalyst is 4, the surface charge is negatively above 4. thus it can be said that the catalyst surface has more OH hydroxide ions. in a word, the solution pH is less than 7 It could not always mean that the solution medium is acidic conditions.
in the synthesis of Fe doped titania acid is added because the they help in oxidation of Fe, so that the doping of Fe is easily done

Thanks for reply. Dr. Azad, I did not add acid during synthesis. It just water and ferric nitrate. I am wondering if i washed catalyst and found that pH became neutral, Is it mean that No role of PZC here or what, please.

Addition of ferric nitrate to water results in its decomposition to of ferric hydroxide and nitric acid making pH of the solution to drop in acidic range. PZC is of least importnace if u have to synthesis an impure phase of Fe2O3 but is needed if you have to sythesize a pure phase like alpha, beta or gamma. Another thing is the process you mentioned is not doping.
