Hi,

Why we always have the satellite image pixels in square form, i.e. for Landsat multispectral bands it is always 30 m x 30 m, for MODIS it is 250 m x 250 m, 0.5 km x 0.5 km or 1 km x 1 km?

Why the two dimensions (X and Y) are always same? Why can't we have a satellite image pixel in a rectangular form?
