I am trying to grow Pseudomonas fluorescens ATCC13525 on different carbon source except glucose in M9 medium but i cannot see them growing on acetate. I am not able to find more information about this particular bacteria online. What can be possible reason for them not growing on acetate where as other pseudomonas does grow on acetate
We worked on Pseudomonas aeruginosa but not on Pseudomonas fluorescens .
That should not be a problem to you. Pseudomonas fluorescens might not posses the genes that specify the enzymes that drive the catabolic pathway. So they cannot utilize acetate as sole source of carbon and energy. Or do you think that Pseudomonas aeruginosa utilizes the same carbon sources that Pseudomonas putida does?
This strain is designated NCTC 10038 [28/5, CCEB 546, DSM 50090, NCIB 9046, NCPPB 1964, PJ239, R. Hugh 818, R.Y. Stanier 192, Biotype A]
it should be able to grow in Tryptic Soy Agar (Soybean Casein Digest Agar), Non-selective Sheep Blood Agar, Standard Methods Agar (Plate Count Agar) or Nutrient Agar. So you can try any of those. check
