Even though the nitrogen content (XPS result) of NC is higer than Co@NC,
the thermal stability of NC is more stable than Co@NC.

If I can correctly relate to your problem with my research case i.e. N-doped Graphene aerogel (N-doped Carbon) and Fe-doped Carbon aerogel (Fe-Metal at NC) I can infer that there is a correlation between the nitrogen concentration and morphology of aerogel formed. As by the increase of Nitrogen amount, the growth rate of the material increases significantly. In the case of metal@NC, there is agglomeration as well due to metallic composition.
Dear Xi Sheng Yao many thanks for sharing this very interesting technical question on RG. As a synthetic inorganic chemist I would not call myself a proven expert in this field. However, my first (probably naive) thought was that these are just two different materials. So why should they have the same thermal stability? Perhaps it's just sufficient to note the difference as an experimental observation without any further explanation.
