I am maintaining more than 30 tanks of zebrafish and some of them are juvenile. Today I found that all the juvenile zebrafishes are staying at the bottom of the tank and swimming very fast back and forward. Seems like they are miserable and nervous. The room temperature is 26C, water temperature is 28C , pH is 7.17, conductivity: 553.2. All the adults are fine and relax. Anyone have similar experience? What possible reason cause this? I am very worry about them. Thank you very much!!!
Hi Amanda, I never notice this on my juvenile fish, How many fish do you have per tank? Are you feeding them right? maybe they are hungry... or check the water parameters like hardness, ammonia, dissolved oxygen and salinity, maybe something is unbalanced and juvenile are more sensitive. also have you checked the patogens?
I noticed with my adult fish that they are swiming fast when there is an increase of temperature, but its doesn´t seem to be your problem.

Swimming on the bottom is a sign of anxiety. In young fish I see this frequently, when I want to catch them with a net. How large is the age difference between the adult and young ones? May be it becomes better if you separate younger and older in different tanks.
This is indeed alarming since they seem stressed. Check the water parameters as Caroline suggests, also check pH and conductivity with a second meter (or test). Is this a new system? you might see a spike in ammonia since the biofilter is not fully active yet.
Do you have automatic regulation of pH and conductivity? In this case a second system to monitor them is recommended. If one of the sensors or the calibration fails the system will adjust it wrong and you will never notice.
