Hello Ferran Oró Arán . Some time ago I had a similar problem. In my case an outdated GPU driver was the reason why ArcMap crashed every time when I tried to add a basemap. In your case the cause is maybe similar. You can manually turn of the hardware acceleration for basemap layers. Click on "Customize" and go to "ArcMap Options". Click on the "Data View" tab. Next, uncheck the box for "Enable hardware acceleration for supported layers".
If this solves your problem, you know that the problem is occurring in the GPU driver. If so, you should consider an update of the driver.
Hello Ferran, It is usually related with the computer settings... If it crash, usually it means the computer is not strong enough to deal with the basemap. Hope it helps!
It will be better if you use ArcMap 10.7.1 or higher. Previously, I was using ArcMap 10.6.1 and I had the similar issue. Then I tried ArcMap 10.7.1 and it is working better.
Thank you to everyone Paul Griesberger Guaduneth Chico Bhuwan Paudel and Dipak Kumar Das . I could finally solve the problem.
I just downloaded the ArcGIS Layer Package of every Basemap from ESRI website. Then I added a Specific Basemap manually to the Table of Contents in ArcMap and it worked without any problem.
Maybe there was an internal problem of the current version I was using (10.7.1) and my computer. Hopefully, it worked. Hope that this can be helpful to you.
Ferran Oró Arán If you see the error again, you can see an icon near the time bar of your computer which indicates that your computer is not being connected to the internet source of base maps. When you click the icon, you can choose any options and restart Arcgis to solve the problem.
Thank you Fatih Sari and Rabi Shrestha . For now as you can see I could solve the issue. If I get the error again I'll take your comments into account!
