i think u can use "Polygon Neighbors" tool. Polygon neighbors create a new column about the neighbors of the polygons. Then, eleminate no neighbor polygons. so u can see clear no neighbor.

But there is a little problem in there. there is more polygon u have.

WAY 2: (simple logic)

in addition, u can use "Near" tool. Near tools is calculate the distance from each point in one feature class to the nearest point or line feature in another feature class. So u can use that tool. u can see a new column about near factor. then u can selecting NEAR_DIST = 0 . and u can merge it.

i sure that there is more way about this problem. especially with python, java etc.

Did anyone of you figure out the best way to merge the polygons which have a NEAR value = 1.

When I calculate the neighborhood wir NEAR tool, i get a new column with the distance and the ID of the adjacent polygon.

But how can I merge these selected polygons?

If I just select all the polygons with value 0 and merge them, all of them get merged, but I just want to merge the single polygons with the adjacent ones.

Hello Oliver Rehberger , I don't know if you still have to solve this issue. Try by creating a small buffer of 0.1 meters for example. Then you can dissolve it easily with the Dissolve tool, as Pietro Milanesi explained in this post.

I tried to avoid the step with a buffer.

But i figured out, the REGION tool for raster data doing a good Job, by automatically connect diagonal neighborhood to a single group.
