Many papers propose that sediment samples should be dried and sieved prior to sequential extraction, as suggested for soil techniques (e.g. Tessier or BCR). However, handling operations are a critical step for the preservation of speciation. Therefore, some researchers recommend that the extraction procedure be applied to the wet, homogenized and sieved sediment without drying. What alternative could be used to carry out the sieving, homogenization and weighing without drying? Is there an alternative to the inert gas-flushed glovebox?

Thank you in advance
