Typically the pH of BFW is conditioned to 9. According to e.g. the ASM handbook, the corrosion rate of iron in water should be constant between a pH of 7 and 9. Wouldn't a pH of 7 be sufficient to mitigate corrosion in a boiler system?
If the ph in the water blow 8.5 that May be will cause an acid attack.the effect exhibits rough pitted surfaces.the presence of iron oxide deposits on boiler surfaces can encourage this kind of corrosion.
