The RG score or the researchgate score is calculated through some unknown algorithm. It is not proportional to the papers published and citations one earns on publications. Moreover, employers are not going to make decision or hire employees on the basis of RG score. Neither does the RG score help in fetching a good postdoc position (unless I am wrong). RG score does not also lead to any salary hikes. I have seen great scientists with impressive publication record with RG score below 50.
So, in this backdrop, let me throw out a very important question about the importance and obsession of RG score.
Why is RG score important? or
Is RG score really important/relevant?
If you have taken any Qualifying Exam, the Score Card of Qualifying Exam is mandatory. Likewise Research gate score is very important because it is considered as a contribution score for researchers and it is purely based on the users/researchers contribution towards, content, profile detail and participation.
RG score is neither any indicative of any exam nor leads to any degree or certification. Furthermore, it is not an indicative measure of publication and citation record.
Also, it does not alter employability in any way. So it is in "NO WAY" a score card or a progress report.
I think if researcher do Scientific and research activities Which will be useful for the advancement of science is better than top RG.
