ic agents: Acetyll-L-Carnitine, Amifostin, Amitriptyline, CaMg for patients receiving oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy, Diethyldithio-carbamate (DDTC), Glutathione (GSH) for patients receiving paclitaxel/carboplatin chemotherapy, Nimodipinde, Org 2766, All-trans-retinoic acid, rhuLIF, Vitamin E, and Venlafaxine.
I think it is because many of these are antioxidants and may reduce the efficacy of chemo drug.
Electrolytes (Magnaesium etc) can interfere with action potentials in the fragile nervous system.
Could it be because there is no randomized controlled trials or other types of studies building an evidence base, supporting the use of these agents? These agents are also used for diabetic neuropathy. I suspect they are also considered or used for CIPN. But their use has not been approved for CIPN and CIPN also has a distinctly different mechanism of action in comparison to diabetic neuropathy.
