Why is it called as tau K18 fragment?

Repeat domain of tau protein is often called either K18 (4 repeats) or K19 (3 repeats). Why are these called K something fragment? Where did the name come from? What does the K stand for? I searched PubMed for this, but no clue at all. Anybody has an idea?

The "K" designation is used because this part of tau has a specific interaction site with microtubules and other proteins, where lysine (the "K" amino acid) residues are key to these binding functions.
