I'm working on photocatalytic water splitting, and the material is zinc ferrite. After the light exposure to the photocatalyst solution, the produced gas was collected using water displacement and fed into the GC. But I'm getting a peak in GC for only oxygen (argon carrier gas).
Notably, based on the band potentials, my material qualifies for both HER and OER.

I'm using TCD detector with molecular sieve 5A column. The time gap between each analysis is 10 minutes.
Oven, injector and detector temperature is 60 degrees
carrier gas (argon) flow rate is 25 ml/min.
I'm getting a peak for pure hydrogen (99.999%). But when I inject my sample gas, there is only one peak that corresponds to oxygen.
I recommend using N2 as a carrier gas. The fact that you identify O2 indicates that your sample is being contaminated with atmospheric air.
