Yes, we know identical particles separate out differently because of antisymmetric and symmetric wave functions. We know that the ones dictated by antisymmetric (called Fermions) have Fermi energy while the symmetric ones dictated by symmetric wave functions (Bosons) can all be accommodated in ground state. My question is why inherent 1/2 integral spin or integral spin manifests in such a fashion? How come the particles because of 1/2 integral spin are dressed to behave so differently. Further, if we could change in the same particle the spin like naturally occurring He3 to He4 we change from Fermion to Boson system. Does same thing happen when two half integral atoms join to form a strongly coupled molecule and molecule behaves as Boson ? We know an example of Cooper pairs in BCS theory but I am looking for a basic answer why spin matters so much and what role the spin has inside the particle that dictates it to become or behave as Bose or Fermi particle.
