Why don't my cellulose nitrate filters stabilise after washing, oven drying and leaving them in a desiccator?

When weighting after removing the filters from desiccator, the filters loses weight and doesn't stabilize for over an hour.

This is quite a perplexing problem. Have you verified that the dessicant in your dessicator is properly dried? I have noticed that researchers often neglect the dessicant in their dessicators, and it may be saturated with moisture. It is a good idea to use a dessicant with a moisture indicator. I would suggest replacing your dessicant with new dessicant or dessicant that you have personally dried in an oven.
