I recently grew a microalgae culture but the pH exceeded 7. I am now trying to model the growth of this culture but my understanding is the microalgae use CO2 during photosynthesis so surely the maximum the pH could reach is 7?
Is there an equation for photosynthesis which has OH- as a product?

By the growth of microalgae and consumption of the carbon sources in the culture, the pH rises.

Microalgae growth is not purely dependent on pH itself there are other factors to it. You observe them growing luxuriously at pH more than 7.6. And ofcourse I have seen some strains which grow in acidic medium but they are all thermophilic starins.
