I have recently carried out an experiment and I have various Candida Utilis readings at an optical density of 600. Due to circumstances, I am unable to do a calibration curve so was wondering if any past research papers or documents have done a similar calibration which I could use (I understand it may be slightly different). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if there is no way you can make a calibration curve, you could just go ahead with the optical quantification (in a reliable range of OD) and later, if things go back to normal, make the curve and interprete the results. the order of products does not change the result. Alternatively, you can use your samples and get some points in a Neubauer chamber, or to make dilutions and count colonies in agar.

Calibration curve linking OD to cell concentration must be done for each yeast growing in a specific medium in order to have a trustful representation of kinetics.
Could you explain us why your are not able to do a calibration curve right now? because you only need a chamber (Neubauer or Thoma) and a spectrometer, may be we could help you more.
I recommend you to keep the same dilution factor between all OD measurement samples.

I agree with the two former answers, you can correlate OD with the numeration obtained with any technique (Neubauer or Thoma 's cell, cell counter...). But what as not been said is that it is essential to limit dilutions to the linear domain for yeast cells. For me this domain is really tiny : from 0 to .3 or .35, no more.
