Is it related to the certitude or the uncertainty of the article? Or is there some sense to this nonsense?
In some cases main author's name comes first but sometimes the supervising Prof. But in most cases, corresponding author is likely to be the leading author. In general, who come first has nothing to do with the quality of the paper.
If, and when, uncomfortable questions are raised post-publication--a rarity today-- does the whole team respond--EVER??
