Plant virus DNA just spread into one generation of plant, not its descendant as because viral genome are not integrated into plant genome, probably they are associated with plant genome and replicate accordingly, as it is not integrated into plant genome, so they do not count during segregation of host plant genome and not follow its descendant.

Sanjeev, badnaviruses are dsDNA retrotranscribing plant viruses that integrate into the genome and as such they are seed transmitted in both episomal and integrated forms. As Nadine mentioned above, many RNA plant viruses also are seed transmitted and some are pollen-transmitted as well. It would help to know which genus you are referring to and what you mean by DNA as most plant viruses do not have a DNA stage in their life cycle.
