It's my birthday today and that's why I'm asking this question. I know that every child looks forward to his or her birthday: the anticipation of gifts plays the main role. It is always a wonderful experience, even when you are older, to be in the centre of attention of your own family, relatives and friends. But I have also experienced that the thoughts and joy one has on one's birthday change over time, and sometimes fears also play a role.

It would be nice to hear contributions on how you think about your birthday - and whether there is a certain tradition of celebrating it. Or to say that one's birthday doesn't play a special role, as other people do.
