I often get annoyed when I see that a simple question asked in RG is given by another colleague only a link (or many links) instead of an answer. I think that's below the level of scientific exchange. Who asks a question in RG has a right to get an answer. A qualified simple answer is more important than a link that often refers to additional links, which is often confusing. It is part of the scientist's ethics that he says that he can not answer himself, but has taken information from a particular link that he reflects and he formulate this information as an answer - and name the link URL as source for his information. No, just to name a link, on the principle "eat or die", may be allowed to a freshman, but we should improve the discussion in RG by first giving a factual answer to the question asked. Even if you are not expert, you can say that. And there's nothing wrong with calling a link if you've previously given a qualified answer. Especially problematical is this bad habit - calling a link - when it comes to hard debates. Since one should not hide mutually behind links of any sources. It should be used as an useful additional information.

I am afraid that my appeal has no effect and everyone is outraged that they should give answers instead of providing a link.
