Hi there,
what is (are) the benefit(s) of drawing the zero air voids with the compaction curve(s) ?
Thank you
ZAVL corresponds to degree of saturation = 1, and no matter how much energy you give there is no state possible beyond ZAVL. In other words, it is not possible to compact the soil beyond the ZAVL.
Amiya is right. A compaction curve never could intersect with ZAVL. If it does, it means there is something wrong in our compaction test.
The benefit of drawing z.a.v. curve is to control the compaction test results. The result curve(s) can not cross the z.a.v. line.
Thank you for your answers
All of the contributions are good. What about degree of saturation lines? For example what is the use of S=90%, 80%...etc. lines?
Thank you guys for your answers
