to treat cancer with TCM alone is not advisable.I know patients with cancer who refused to be treated by conventional western medicine and they all died. When I had patients in my clinic who asked me whether I can treat his/her cancer with TCM my answer was: No unfortunately not.But I can help you with complementary medicine to reduce the side-effects of cytostatic therapy (no vomiting with acupuncture) of radiation or surgery (support healing of wounds, treat scar focus). So ear acupuncture, laser acupuncture and chinese herbs are very helpful for cancer patients, but please not as the only therapeutic measures.

Good point. But, for more complicated or severe diseases, the majority of the modem China's Chinese medicine physicians cannot well treat. For young patients and simple diseases, anything can make the Qi flowing can help the body recover.

Compare to the western medicine, yes, Chinese medicine already good enough.

However, compared to the ancient Chinese medicine could treat, it is far not enough. Such as cancers, kidney dialysis, heart attack, severe Sjogren's syndrome, SARS, Ebola, etc. are hardly to be treated by nowadays Chinese medicine physicians. In the real world, the real problem solvers are always leading than the evidence based believers and save more lives! Moreover, the evidence based stuffs cost more that adds on the patients. The only thing is avoiding some low quality practitioners.

The western medicine does not trust time tested Chinese medicine. They adopt evidence based medicine. Yet, Chinese medicine can well treat and let patients reinstall their body and organ functions to have a quality of life.

However, the higher cost evidence based western medicine or acupuncture still have high organs failure and tube inserted. It proves the evidence based medical is not the health care successful needed factor. To me, it likes a professional jargon to mislead it's a powerful health care, more valuable and can "charge more".

It let me remember when I just joined RG, a researcher asked me a question: why cannot duplicate an evidence based acupuncture treatment? I told him that acupuncture like an art or a chef's receipt, not everyone can duplicate the artist or the chef's work.

In acupuncture treatment, the acupuncturist's mindset, the strong of Qi, the needle technique, the angle of needling, the length and the thickness of the needle,... etc.. all can affect the treatment result. Not everything I mentioned above can be put on the research report.

As an engineer origin, I am very practical. I do not like or want flashy useless decoration on my treatment. Patient's real health and quality of life are what I concerned. Low cost, no pollution, easy way to treat, preventive and self-healing are what I pursue.

Indeed, TCM is a "holistic" approach; if applied correctly treats a set (a range) of problems simultaneously, rather than one by one symptom dealt with by western medicine. In this fast world people prefer fast solutions. When I asked my Chinese student what she thinks about TCM, she smiled and said it takes too much time to be effective. So, I only guess that many young people in China might prefer the pill to the needle? (This is only my guess. Please correct me.)

In my view I agree, and has less side effects than chemotherapy (every pill, unless made of natural ingredients, is a form of chemotherapy).

It's due to the young or even elder Chinese especially scientific major Chinese be mislead by western medicine. They think western medicine is scientific and TCM is not. Actually, as one of the ancient TCM practitioners, we say that TCM is scientific and western medicine is technology. Why?

We follow the time tested TCM diagnoses and theory to treat, TCM always works better than western medicine. Yet, western medicine always has new researches against the existing treatments. Moreover, TCM does not like the western medicine create so many medical tragedies and high cost wasted on research and treatments.
