The famous Morgan Wyalla Pipeline of Australia was coated with a mixture of sodium silicate, large quantities of zinc dust and small amounts of red oxide and sodium bicarbonate. It demonstrated excellent corrosion resistance and is at work for nearly 70 years now. The coating kind is called as Inorganic Zinc Coating and today they are available as a single pack self curable coatings which are equally efficient as the original one used on the above said pipeline.I am curious as to where epoxy coatings could be used as far as structural and Industrial applications are considered ? Is it better than Inorganic Zinc coating or is it cost-effective ?
