Why are certain solid materials like carbon, gallium and arsenic are defined as fluid materials in fluent even if they are solids. Is there any way we can define them as solids while enabling the species transport model. Actually I want to study the heat transfer. Surface chemical reactions are involved and it is important that I define them as solids. But I don't know how can I.
Because FLUENT is a flow simulator; either a species is a solid body a wall or solid object in the flow (which may move or deform with a moving mesh, but it still moves as a single object), or it is a "fluid". This latter category can include dispersed solid particles, for example carbon particles that are transported in a gas stream. Although composed of fluids, for practical calculation problems they are fluid.

I am not a specialist but I know that Fluent gives you the opportunity to add or create new material. I do not know how, but I know it's possible.

I too had the same doubt, after searching some tutorials considering combustion reactions I found out that solids need to be created as fluids in Fluent.
To further, create the components as species_name, and specify in the formula as species_formula, it will consider it as solid. If you write it as it will consider it as liquid. hope it helps
