Hello,

I am conducting a heat transfer analysis in ABAQUS for a carbon fiber tow. However, I am encountering an issue with the results. The analysis is steady-state, and the boundary conditions are specified as follows:

A temperature gradient is applied between two surfaces in the X direction.

A fixed initial temperature 𝑇0 is assigned to one surface, and a temperature increase defined as T0+ΔT is applied to the other surface:

T(x=a)=T0 and T(x=0)=T 0+ΔT

Adiabatic boundary conditions are assigned to the edges in the Y and Z directions such that the heat flux is zero. The analysis was done between 300 K and 2500 K.Thermal conductivity values for both the carbon fiber and the carbon matrix are specified for this range, covering each temperature increment accurately.Despite these settings, I am seeing a significant discrepancy between my results and the expected results. The first image shows the actual (expected) results, while the second image displays the results I obtained.

Could you please help me understand why there is such a large difference between the two?

Thank you!
