Soul controls brain and action through mind.
The sequence is this: Soul--> ego-->( intellect--> memory-->) mind--> brain---> Body---> actions--> consequences all the way back to the soul.

As George says it depends on the definition of 'soul' - if soul is something immaterial, as opposed to the material brain, then, since it is established that matter is merely vacuum fluctuations (to use a Stephen Battersby phrase), the immaterial soul inevitably takes precedence over the material brain. This view also rejoins the Platonists' view of the universe as ultimately a purely mathematical structure (Tegmark et al.)
Firstly, there is not unique definition of the soul, because the definition of it depend on philosophy and religious outlook of the person .
I think that the mind controls our brain, while the spirit represents the physical and logical structure of the body.
Our birth is god given gift & we decide our parents after placing our footstep on our Mother earth .Initial we recognize our caste ,creed & religion & our social environment .
Our action starts with our conscious mind which helps us to carry out our day to day action of our life .It is this action for which what we are going to be as a human being.
With this our mind ,heart ,& divinity within us are the very helpful so to say an holy elements of our life .
It is nobody only we have to control our mind & energy forces for carry out our action we have to be careful that with our birth ,we have with us the resulting fruits positive & negative of our previous lives .It is also this incomplete action which we may have to face in our life & as such it becomes a challenge for our life for which we have to make a practice to be an clear observer of our life -sincerely ,Honesty under a moral codes & ethics .
It is necessary that we all have a disturbing elements working in our conscious mind .There are ANGER,GREED ,JEALOUSLY ,EGO ,ATTACHMENT ,PRIDE & such other elements process in our conscious mind. It is only we have to control & to make every of our action so to say our karma following the path for for worthy road .

Being in full depression,despair,wrench,heartache and poverty, a human being remains humane.This ordinary,but a noble,responsible,good,proud,dignified human being is peace-loving and empathic.I think,only highly intellectual,highly cultured person can preserve higher moral values in the hard situation(to V.Frankl).
