Don't know current rankings in terms of nations in scientific advancement. But, there should be no competitive spirit in our global united efforts in science.
How "global" is the world? Mass distribution/tech production; Funds/mass; Democracy/surface; information/conception & production; etc. I think the world is not global as we think could be.
What is developing country in an asymmetric world? What is development and what is the direction of this development?
I agree it is time to rethink about Science in terms of a global World...but this is not the case. Money drives science and Science without the ethical dimension becomes dangerous. This implies informatics, dopamine related drugs as the networks, biology and medicine, social sciences, agriculture etc. We need to revisit "global" from a Scientific point of view....and though we need to define what is Science and who is Scientist..
For each colleague's point of view, I think India is considered the sixth state of existence for the highest technologies. Most new software technology comes from India. The reason for India's advancement is that it has the first university in the world to learn all the technological sciences. Sanskrit is considered the most useful language for the computer system, and even NASA is planning to use it. India has a lot of natural resources, which are extracted and used positively for better purposes and technological advances.
