Chapter Intensive Steel Quenching Methods
The self - regulated thermal process can be successfully investigated by using Liscic - Nanmac probe with the thermocouple accurately instrumented on the very surface of the probe, noise control systems plus video - recordings. The self - regulated thermal process is a basis for developing the new technologies which provide super- strengthening of materials.
The self - regulated thermal process was discussed recently at the 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Control, Modeling and System Engineering (ICMS'14) held in Cambridge on 29 - 31 Jan., 2014. The criteria of its existence and absence were considered too. A plan for further investigation of self -regulated thermal process is as follows:
1. A probe with the surface thermocouples should be designed.
2. Water salt solutions of optimal concentration will be used as a quenchant.
3. Noise conteol system and software analyzing frequency and power of boiling process are available and will be used.
4. A high speed video - camera is available and will be used.
5. The probe will be heated to 850oC and quenched in water salt solution of optimal concentration.
6. Duration of transient nucleate boiling process will be recorded by noise control system.
7. Bubble departure during the boiling process will be fixed by high speed video camera.
8. Results of experiments will be compared with the results of computation and analytical solutions. They will be widely discussed at the WSEAS/NAUN and other Conferences.
