Both filmmakers (including film financiers in terms of what Nigerians call 'film marketers) and consumers contribute in shaping Nollywood film contents. They do so by hinging storylines on popular culture - i.e. people's everydayness! But whereas the first group [i.e. the filmmakers] do contribute by giving films the forms they take, Nollywood consumers do so in the context of acceptable aesthetics and psychological dispositions towards specific genres.

Thank you @Innocent Uwah. Can you conceptualize aesthetics in terms of the Nigerian films? Would you say it is unique to Nollywood?

When it comes to content creation in Hollywood, screenwriters are at liberty to create. After production, every video production goes through a screening through the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). The NFVCB have the responsibility to ensure that the videos do not have contents that can potentially incite violence. They also have to ensure that there are no copyright infringements. Recently, the Bank of Industry (BOI) established by the federal government to provide loans to SMEs has been lending a helping hand to film producers. One of the requirements to get a loan from BOI as a filmmaker is content creation; thus, we can conclude that the BOI has some level of influence on the content of films they are bankrolling.

SME stands for small and medium-sized enterprises. Concerning the difference between video and film producer/film creator, this is a very broad subject that needs to be well contextualized. In the film industry, a video is the recording of moving visual images. It can also simply be the final production of a film. A film producer/ film creator on the other hand is the person charged with the responsibility of making a film/video. This can be expanded on because of its broad nature. My response here is not exhaustive.
