In order to identify this yeast reliably, physiological traits and ideally DNA sequence data (D1/D2 or ITS region) should be analyzed. Morphology alone usually is not informative enough to identify yeasts. Many yeast genera can produce pink colonies in culture.
The colony color gives a resemblance to Rhodotorula. You can subculture your isolate on our Pal sunflower seed medium or APRM agar to see the development of orange, pink or red mucoid shiny colonies. You should also perform biochemical and physiological tests. Also, see the detailed morphology in wet mount using our Narayan stain or PHOL stain. This will help you to know whether your isolate is Rhodotirula.
@Hugo Madrid Thank you, I will do molecular characterization but once I find a little clue that the colony morphology is same to the one that I want to isolate( taphrina deformans).
