I am conducting an experiment with 1 dependent variable and 3 independent variables, each IV have 2 and 3 levels, so I will have 12 treatments in total (12 experimental groups). The dependent variable is credibility and I know that the most appropiate way of making the analysis is by doing multifactorial or ANOVA. For this reason I would like to know: which is the most appropiate "measurement scale" to assess the DV in terms of statistical applications (ANOVA)?
Point of correction: Do you mean that your three IV's are of 2, 2 and 3 levels respectively (giving you 12 experimental groups)? Your DV credibility is likely to be measure as nominal or ordinal variable. The IV's are also likely to be nominal or ordinal. If at least ordinal ANOVA can still be applicable for example Friedman two-way ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA. However ANOVA is best with interval variables.
Thanks for your answer, to clarify myself. I have 3 IV as you mentioned 2,2,3 levels that gives me 12 treatments; the DV varible is credibility of those 12 treatments. The IV´s are nominal, such as expertise, reputation and valence. So my question is: which is the best for ANOVA analysis? ratio, inteval or scale ???.
are dependent varibale number or nominal or binary ..if number/scal no problem you can use ANOVA by SPSS or SAS...but if no (nominal or binary) you use logistic analysis ..
