I'd like to ask if there is difference in TRI reagent supplied by several companies: Sigma, Peqlab, invitrogen...etc. Is there any one preferred for use for RNA isolation?
It really shouldn't matter that much. I have used most of them and they all work just fine. Sigma is always good, but you can get cheaper ones from Gibco, Qiagen etc.
It's not that expensive either, so take your choice.
Thank you very much all for sharing your experience .Vasileios Bitas ...you are making it easier for me to choose since you tried most of them and you found no difference. I'll look accordingly for the one with a suitable price.
All them are based on Chomczynski P, Sacchi N. protocol from Anal Biochem 1987...yes, 27 years ago paper (using acid guanidinium thiocyanate-phenol-chloroform extraction). I have used several of them in order to extract total RNA from human cells and actually I'm using Tri reagent from Euromedex (cheapest). There is one for liquids sample that is Trizol LS that you can choose according to your sample....good luck!
It was answered in another of your post..."You should use chloroform for molecular biology from Sigma which is using amylenes as stabilizer (sigma C2432)". good luck!
Hi dear, during my MSc degree in UGent, Belgium I extracted RNA from root and leaf of rice plant using TRIzol (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, USA) following the manufacturer’s instructions and this RNA was subsequently used for first strand cDNA synthesis with the aid of Superscript ΙΙ (Invitrogen) using oligo dT primers.
The TRIzol (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, USA) was found good for isolation of RNA.
