I want to develop short screencasts to help my business strategy final year undergraduate students to achieve deeper learning or to give them the ability to revise tough lecture elements. Which topics/ subtopics would be the best ones to start with?
Suggest 7-10 minute screencasts that work through applications of popular models such as 5 Forces Model and RBV. I have created them using examples that are familiar to my Hong Kong students - grocery retailing using 5FM and HK Disneyland using RBV. I find that about 2/3 of all students view them at least twice, once when I present the topic during the semester and a second time when revising for the final exam. The stability of the featured company or industry should be considered; you want a screencast to be useful for many years.
I think that the Canvas Business Model is coming an important tool ad Porter's 5 Forces for 20 last years. You can find material there: http://www.businessmodelgeneration.com/canvas/bmc

I would say topics which are either quite analytical, or perhaps boring to take in during live class lectures. Thus calculating savings, added value, operational costs, etc. could be useful for extra review. I use 26 online lectures in my Emarketing strategy class which can be found at www.isbmem.org .
